The organizations doing the most important work are often the least visible.

Not because their work is not good. Because their brand does not reflect it yet. Funders, clients, and community partners make decisions based on how a business looks and feels before they ever read the mission statement. When the visual identity does not match the quality of the work, opportunities are lost quietly and consistently.

KATHY VARELA

Kathy is a Cabo Verdean immigrant, mother, and neurodivergent designer with over 14 years of professional experience in brand identity, editorial design, campaign creation, and creative direction. Her background spans public relations, marketing, retail advertising, print production, and business-to-business communications, for organizations ranging from early-stage startups to established enterprises.

As a neurodivergent creative, Kathy brings pattern recognition, sensitivity to detail, and a way of asking questions that surfaces what other processes miss. This is not incidental to her work. It is how she finds what is genuinely distinctive about a client's identity, rather than defaulting to what looks current or on trend.

She founded the agency to address something she experienced and witnessed directly: the absence of culturally informed, strategically grounded design services that underrepresented founders, nonprofits, and community organizations could actually access and afford.

She is based in Boston and leads every project with curiosity, cultural knowledge, and a belief that design is a practical tool for economic and community development.
